Why start QUT mid year?

You don’t have to wait until 2010 to start study at QUT. Start study mid year, and finish your degree six months sooner. And be ready to make your mark on the real world.

Talk about your options.

"A lot of people I know think universities take students through at the start of the year. And if then they realise they want to do study around March of that year, want to go back to uni, you don’t have to wait until the end of the year. There’s always that mid year option available as well. If you’re considering coming back consider your options, there’s a tonne of information available. Just give them a ring."

"You’re not wasting your time waiting around for the brand new year to start, you can start halfway through."

If you're worried about your workload, you can take your time. Complete as little as one subject per semester.

If you'd like to get through your course more quickly, you may need to complete a subject over the Christmas - New Year period.

Courses to get you ahead in life. Not get in the way of it.

"The flexible timetable we have is very good. If you’re able to come to uni at night time, and libraries are open until 10 o’clock and there are some computer rooms that are 24 hours. Lecturers are very helpful. Tutors are very good."

Many QUT courses allow for flexibility when it comes to choosing when, where and how you study.

Depending on your course, you may be able to attend classes in the evening, fast-track your study over the summer semester or complete one unit at a time.

We deliver many course materials online. Teaching websites and online databases mean you're not tied to campus. Chat groups allow for valuable group interaction from wherever you are.

You’ll beat the end-of-year crowds, so there’ll be less competition for the most highly prized jobs when you finish studying.

Undergraduate courses

QUT has made more than 600 QTAC mid-year offers and more than 11,000 offers in 2010. QUT is not planning to make further offers and will not be accepting further applications or changes of preference for the remaining QTAC offer rounds for mid-year entry.

Applications for Semester 1, 2011 entry will open at QTAC on 1 July 2010. For further information please visit the QTAC website.

Postgraduate courses

Applications for postgraduate courses must be made directly to QUT by Friday, 18 June 2010.

A late fee of $50 applies for any applications lodged after this date. No further applications will be accepted after 23 July.

Applications for research degrees are also made directly to QUT.

Support when you get here

QUT runs an orientation program and provides information about getting started at QUT to help you settle in to university. You will find a wide range of student support services available.

Studying at university may not be as expensive as you think. Many students pay no up-front course fees and receive Commonwealth assistance with their study costs. Low-income students may be eligible for an equity bursary.
