Your Student Learning Entitlement (SLE) is the quota of study time you have as a Commonwealth supported student. It is measured in equivalent full-time student load (EFTSL).

One EFTSL is the equivalent of one year of full-time study.

From 1 January 2005 , all eligible students will receive a Student Learning Entitlement of seven years of full-time study, seven EFTSL, as a Commonwealth supported student. This initial seven years is called ordinary SLE and is consumed in the course of your studies to the value of how much EFTSL you use each year. Additional SLE can be granted in particular circumstances to ensure that you have sufficient SLE to undertake your chosen course of study.

To encourage lifelong learning, the government also grants a third type of SLE, lifelong SLE, which accrues each January either from your 27 th birthday, or 1 January 2012 , whichever date comes first.

How much SLE am I using?

EFTSL values are based on a unit’s credit point value and the standard EFTSL at QUT (96 credit points). Studyfinder will display the EFTSL value for each unit in the course structure. Alternatively, the EFTSL conversion table will provide you with a quick guide to EFTSL values.

It is your responsibility to monitor your SLE. For further information on Student Learning Entitlement, ordinary SLE, additional SLE or lifelong SLE, go to myUniAssist on the goingtouni web site.

If you need to apply for a re-credit of your SLE (if you withdraw from units after the census date), go to the Fee refunds information.
