This section will help you understand our enrolment policy and procedures, and provide you with an outline of the steps you need to follow to ensure correct enrolment into your course.
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) regulates the provision of education to international students through the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act (2000). The National Code of Practice (2007), established under the ESOS Act, provides standards on international students' as well as University's rights and responsibilities.

Enrolling for the first time

Compulsory on-campus orientation
The International Student Orientation Program is designed to meet your particular needs as an overseas student and prepare you for your studies.

Your student ID card
Your ID card identifies you as a QUT student. As an international student you can obtain your ID card as soon as you arrive on campus. To obtain your ID card you must present your current passport and visa.
- QUT Virtual
As an international student applying for admission to QUT courses, you will be able to complete your enrolment and class registration via QUT Virtual after attending your faculty orientation.
Amending your enrolment details

Changing enrolment
As an international student, any changes you make to your enrolment must be in accordance with your student visa conditions.

Updating your personal details
It is a condition of your student visa that, you must inform your education provider (ie QUT) within seven days of your arrival in Australia of your current residential address and, of any changes of address within seven days of each change.
Re-enrolment for continuing students

Email notice to re-enrol
A notice will be emailed to your student email account if you are expected to continue your studies in the next year.

Interrupting your studies
As a student visa holder, you must check with Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) on the impact your leave of absence may have on your student visa.
- Re-enrolling after absence
You should lodge a completed 'Application for Admission to QUT as an International Student' (F Form) to the Student Centre on your campus or to Student Business Services, at least 3 months prior to the commencement of semester.

Your student visa
As an international student visa holder you must enrol in a program of study, which ensures completion within the timeframe specified within your electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE).

Monitoring your studies
QUT monitors your study load as required by the National Code 2007 and advises the Australian Government when an international student does not meet these requirements. Please refer to our course progress policy and procedure.
Fees and payment information
Please note that Student Centre Cashiers will only accept a maximum of five hundred dollars cash. Postal orders are available from Australia Post outlets. If needed, please see your local bank to organise a bank cheque.
