As a doctoral candidate you will only receive your email invitation after the Research office confirms that you are eligibile to graduate. Your email invitation will be issued approximately six weeks prior to your ceremony. The invitation will include the date and time of your ceremony and a direct link to register online.

All candidates must register. Even if you do not wish to attend your ceremony, registering will ensure that you receive your parchment as quickly as possible after the ceremony.

Online registration

Registration for July ceremonies has now closed.

Completing online registration allows you to:

  • Notify QUT of your intention to either:
    • 1) Attend your ceremony
    • 2) Receive your parchment by post
    • 3) Defer your attendance to a later graduation ceremony
  • Provide measurements for your complimentary academic dress hire
  • Advise if you would like to attend the post-ceremony celebratory function with your guests
  • Nominate your preferred contact details for correspondence about your graduation.

What to do before your ceremony

  • Make sure your details on QUT Virtual are correct, in particular
    • 1) Mailing address (especially if you choose to receive your parchment by post)
    • 2) How you would like your name to appear on your parchment
  • Read the doctoral candidate’s graduation guide
  • Browse through the FAQs for responses to common concerns that candidates may have
  • Purchase guest tickets to the ceremony and pre-purchase parking if you intend to drive.

Doctoral candidates who have previously deferred their ceremony

If you have opted to defer your graduation, an invitation will automatically be sent to your nominated email address before the next round of ceremonies take place.

If you defer your graduation more than once, you will not receive an invitation from the Ceremonies Office for your subsequent deferrals. Check our Graduation Timetable and Doctoral candidate’s graduation guide to find out when the next ceremony for your Faculty is scheduled. When guest tickets go on sale, then submit the Registration form for students who have graduated.
